My bicycle and me in Sri Lanka

In August 2023 I left my startup and my London flat, donated some books and packed others, took clothes to charity, said goodbye to my family, pumped up my tyres and peddled off. I sought adventure, so I cycled from London to Bangkok.

It took 16 months. I wrote about it here. The posts are broadly relevant to ‘life’, but it was never a weekly journal. One week I might share the working conditions in the gas stations of Saudi Arabia; next, I’d explore Sri Lanka's start-up scene. I've written about the shadow cast by Tito across the Balkans and how it feels to cross the Alps, above ski lifts.

One day I will write about how it feels to leave all I love in pursuit of a bicycle trip — and whether it was a good idea.

If you like adventure, you might want to subscribe. If you’re an optimist, you’ll often agree with me.

Readers keep writers honest. By subscribing, you force me to take ideas seriously. So thank you.

So, I'm cycling through samsara — who isn't?! I recently cycled from the UK to Bangkok. On the trip, I fell in love with the art - the joy! - of writing so I continue here and share an essay every Sunday. Enjoy!
